Our Journey of Becoming HUBZone Certified

It has been a long process, but Marken Media Co. is now an official member of the Small Business Administration's HUBZone certification.

“The HUBZone program fuels small business growth in historically underutilized business zones with a goal of awarding at least three percent of their federal contract dollars to HUBZone-certified companies each year,” says SBA.gov.

We first heard about the HUBZone program several months ago. When we realized the location of our business made us eligible to apply, we began the process. Applying for HUBZone was a little like going through an obstacle course. There was lots of reading, re-reading, finding the right paperwork and identification numbers, and remembering passwords, only to get an email saying you need to do X-Y-Z first. Since we are just brand-new members we can’t tell you the benefits just yet – but as far as 2020 is concerned, I think we could all agree it can only go up from here!
