Paint the Ceramics... You Won't Regret It

A few years ago, we were on the Texas coast for a vacation. Near the end of our trip, I got a wild idea that we should take our young kiddos to paint ceramics.

I knew it would probably be an expensive outing once everyone settled on their treasure, but I had visions and memories of my own childhood where our small town had a ceramic shop. I had painted ceramics so often as a kid and loved it every time. It’s also fun to note that Marcus’s late grandmother Leta once owned and operated a ceramics shop! Way to go, Grammy! When we honeymooned in Mexico, Marcus and I painted a plate together, and it’s still on display in our home three moves later.

After looking over the dozens and dozens of options, the kids each decided to paint plates. I picked a mug with a huge handle. We enjoyed painting and being creative together that day. And when I reach for that purple ceramic mug in my coffee cabinet, it makes me smile as I remember our trip. I spent a little more than I'd normally spend, but we had an experience that was so worth it.
