How to Spend Less Time Creating Content
If you're like me, you're always looking for ways to optimize your time and get the most out of your day. Marcus is our full-time business employee, but we still have four kids so your homegirl is usually that... at home.
One area that can be especially time-consuming is creating content for your business. Facebook, Instagram, emails (like these!), blog posts, and don't forget LinkedIn and the growing community on Alignable.
I've got some tips to help you spend less time creating content and more time growing your business. That way you look like you're cranking out stuff all the time, when really you are just chunking and stacking your content creation time strategically allowing you more freedom.
Tip #1: Don't start when you're going to be interrupted
Starting a project when you know you're going to be interrupted can lead to frustration and feeling unaccomplished. Instead, carve out a dedicated time where you can fully focus on your content creation. This could mean blocking out a few hours in your calendar or finding a time of day where you're most productive. I like to come to the office early a couple times a month.
Tip #2: Chunk your content creation schedule
Are you trying to create long-form blog posts or social media content? Consider chunking your schedule and creating several pieces of content in one afternoon. This not only saves time, but it can also help you get into a rhythm and be more productive. This also gives you a chance to "get in the zone" and once you're there, you'll never want to create content the old way.
Tip #3: Create a content creation rhythm
Maybe you write better in the morning, or maybe you're more productive in a coffee shop. Find a routine that works for you and stick to it. I found that waking up at 4 am during my pregnancy was the best time for me to write. (I know I know 😜). If you can find a routine that works for you, you'll be able to create more content in less time.
Tip #4: Don't be afraid to repeat yourself
If you've shared personal stories or lessons that resonated with your audience in the past, don't be afraid to share them again. Your customers want to hear from you and it's what sets you apart from other businesses. Plus, it saves you time from having to come up with new ideas every time. Tip #5: Use tools to optimize your content
There are plenty of tools out there that can help you optimize your content creation process. ChatGPT is one such tool that can help you clean up your content and make it more post-ready. Plus, it can be a huge time-saver in brainstorming ideas or refining your writing. Remember you're the human that makes the writing feel human. For best results don't just copy/paste the stock text it generates, add your personal stories and point of view.
Tip #6: Check your title using subjectline.com
If you're struggling to come up with a title for your blog post or email subject, subjectline.com can be a helpful tool. It analyzes your title and gives you feedback on how to make it more effective.
Tip #7: Break your blog into sections and use it as several posts
Don't feel like you have to create one long blog post. Consider breaking it up into sections and using each section as a separate social media post. This can help you create more content and give you more opportunities to engage with your audience. You'll probably notice that only 10% of your total number of followers actually see a given post. Don't be afraid to post about the same topics more than once!
Remember, creating content doesn't have to be time-consuming or daunting. With these tips, you'll be able to spend less time creating content and more time growing your business.
