About

Marcus has been involved with media in some capacity since he was a teenager. When he was 16, his grandma gave him some money, and he bought his first video camera instead of putting it toward buying a car. He later worked at Apple Inc. and as media director at Grand Parkway Baptist Church.

Kennan grew up in Devine, Texas. After graduation, she studied mass communication/journalism at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and worked as lead associate editor at Katy Magazine in the Houston area and worked doing grant reporting for Children’s Emergency Relief International before becoming a full-time mom in 2015. 

Since 2017, as entrepreneurs ourselves, we have helped small businesses grow. We see ourselves as the creative marketing dream team for the business owner who doesn’t have time to do it all. You’re not alone. We’re the creatives in your corner!

SCHOTT’S MODEL MARKET WAS BUILT IN 1937.

THE FAMILY-OWNED BUSINESS SERVED DEVINE, TEXAS AS THE GO-TO GROCERY AND DRY GOODS STORE.

Today, Marken operates on the right third of the building. When we first got into the space, its bright blue floors and 8-foot drop ceiling were hiding some of the character of the building.

So we removed the drop ceiling, exposing the metal i-beams and some of the original wooden rafters. We even repurposed some of the wood on our feature wall, as well as created a bar top work station in the hallway displaying some of its 10-foot beauty.

We love uncovering the history of Devine and have shared some of our favorite photos, newspaper ads, and yearbook snapshots from that time period on the walls at Marken.

In addition to serving as our office, we have also opened the space to the public for market days, monthly chamber meetings, music nights, and art shows featuring the work of local creatives. Need space to work or party? Check out our coworking and party rental info here.

ColorWall

The #DevineColorWall started as most ideas do – just a dream in our heads.

When we began looking for commercial office space, it was one of the contingencies Kennan had: it must be a building with a blank canvas for a color wall. The color wall is not just about the candy-colored paint or all the hard work that went into pressure washing, priming, and painting the beauty.

It’s about random passerby stopping to strike a pose and take a pic, about former locals coming home and being happily surprised to see it. The #devinecolorwall is about showing you can be a small town and still have fun and flavor.
